© Leaps N’ Bounds Agility 1997-2016
Some would say I have been agility forever but it’s not true.. there are a few people in the agility world that like to exaggerate the facts so don’t believe everything you hear about me.
I’ve been married for 36 years and have a lovely 21 yr old daughter to which I’m dedicated too. I worked most of my life at veterinary hospitals which I started doing before I graduated high school, as kennel worker, reception, and veterinary assistant (technician). Hey, even some of my best friends are veterinarians.
Dogs have been a huge part of my life. I knew I would always work with dogs in my life I just didn't realize how much it would become part of my life. Growing up my parents would always say if its got 4 legs, a tail and barks, Bev will be willing to do anything for it.
I have been competing in Agility since 1997 and have had a lot of success both locally and nationally with my past dogs: Raven and Mocha. At the moment I am training my new dogs Jazz now competing in the Masters level she just accomplished her Versatility Bronze (unbeknownst to me as Carson Kong has been competing with her), Nyssa and Blaze are now competing in all Masters Events.
As an instructor, I have been teaching agility 20 years since 1996 first as a volunteer instructor for 2 different clubs in the lower mainland then on my own. I truly enjoy the teaching aspect of the game and have over the many years helped many Agility Enthusiasts achieve great success in the sport and improve their relationship with their dogs. It’s wonderful to have your students present, past and current competing at the highest levels of Agility Nationally as well as Internationally. It’s almost better, I do mean almost better, than achieving those same goals for yourself. I enjoy watching a handler & their 4 legged partners become a team who when competing look as if they are dancing and are perfectly in sync with each other. The bond created by agility for the handler and their dog is a wonderful thing. There is nothing better.
From being part of the agility world I have gained many good friends and have been able to travel to different areas to meet new people all with similar interests. Our dogs are a huge part of our life.
I have attended many seminars locally, with international competitors such as, Barb Davis, Kathy Keats, Daisy Peel, Desiree Snelleman, Justine Davenport, Nancy Kemna, Bobbi Lyons just to name a few. I also have canine first aid training.
I have trained most breeds and cross breeds from Chihuahuas to Leonbergers, including many sight hounds, over the years. I teach for both competitive as well as non competitive students. I've worked with people and dogs young and old and some with various disabilities including athletes from the Special Olympics, all have learned the skills of agility. Many say its great therapy for mind body and soul.
